Wild Romance Meets Untamed Beauty

Our final wedding of the season took us to breathtaking mountain landscapes where wild romance and untamed beauty created the perfect backdrop for an adventure-filled celebration.

THE JOURNEY BEGINS: EMBRACING THE ELEMENTS

We quite literally weathered the untamed elements to capture Lucy and Josh's special day! Fierce wind and rain greeted us as we arrived at their mountain venue, but these wild conditions only added to the sense of adventure that would define their celebration. Some couples might have been dismayed by nature's dramatic display, but not these two - they embraced every moment with excitement and anticipation.

Once we met up with them, we immediately knew this day would be something extraordinary. There's a rare and beautiful quality to couples who see challenging conditions as part of the adventure rather than an obstacle, and Lucy and Josh embodied this spirit perfectly.

BREAKING TRADITIONS: A FIRST LOOK BEFORE "I DO"

One of our favourite things about weddings is when couples make the day truly their own, sometimes by gently breaking with tradition. Lucy and Josh were both ready nearly two hours before their ceremony (a photographer's dream!), giving us a rare opportunity: a pre-ceremony "first look."

Thanks to the impeccable timing of Rebecca from Hunibex and Rose from Rose Alexis, who worked their magic with hair and makeup, we captured one of the most heartfelt moments of the day. When Lucy and Josh first saw each other, they both held back tears – that beautiful tension between overwhelming emotion and the desire to preserve perfect makeup!

We even had time for a couple's portrait session before the ceremony – a first for us, and a photographer's gift as it gave us gorgeous, intimate moments without the typical time pressure of the reception.




THE CEREMONY: NORTHERN IRISH STYLE

One thing we've come to love about Northern Ireland is their wonderfully flexible approach to wedding ceremonies. Ann Pinkerton, a Humanist celebrant, led proceedings with warmth, humour, and just the right amount of "juicy stories" about our couple's journey together. The ceremony space was transformed by Fleuriste Belfast's stunning arrangements, creating a backdrop as beautiful as the words being spoken.

Lucy looked absolutely breathtaking in her Ivy and White gown, complemented perfectly by McFarlane Fine Jewellery and those statement Jimmy Choos! Meanwhile, Josh was the epitome of dapper in his impeccably tailored Peter Posh suit.

The ceremony featured beautiful piano accompaniment by Stefan Fraser, creating an atmosphere that was both elegant and deeply personal – exactly what Lucy and Josh had envisioned.



STORM OF JOY: CONFETTI IN THE WIND

Immediately after the ceremony, we embraced the elements and led all the guests outside. The rain had graciously paused, but the wind was still making its presence known – creating the perfect conditions for what would become one of the most spectacular confetti moments we've ever captured!

The delicate paper confetti from Proper Confetti, combined with the wild Irish wind, created a swirling storm of colour around Lucy and Josh. Sometimes, what might seem like challenging conditions turn into pure photographic magic. This was definitely one of those moments!

CELEBRATIONS & ADVENTURES: FROM DANCE FLOOR TO SUNSET MOUNTAINSIDE

The reception was filled with joyous moments - heartfelt speeches that moved everyone to tears mixed with stories that had the room erupting with laughter. The dance floor stayed packed as Anna's Number created an atmosphere of pure celebration that grew more electric as the night progressed.

But the true highlight of their wedding experience came the following day, when we embarked on what can only be described as an epic adventure shoot. As true lovers of wild landscapes, Lucy and Josh were eager to chase the perfect sunset. We hiked through ancient forests and up rugged mountainsides, each step taking us deeper into untamed beauty.

The moment we'll forever remember came as the sun began its descent behind the mountains. Lucy's dress caught the wind as she and Josh stood silhouetted against the golden sky, their figures perfectly framed by the raw, natural landscape. As they raced uphill together to catch the last rays of sunlight, we captured that magical convergence of wild romance and untamed beauty - where love feels as vast and breathtaking as the landscape itself.



Lucy and Josh, your wedding wasn't just a celebration we captured – it was a true adventure we shared. From wild weather to mountaintop sunsets, your day embodied the perfect balance of elegance and untamed beauty that makes for an unforgettable story.
